i’d take zinc instead of vitamin c. the c helps, i prefer to get orange juice or fruit and get it that way instead so it absorbs well into your bloodstream..but you can try zinc too..it is an active ingredient in a lot of those cold-shortening remedies. don’t take more than the recommended dosage.

I can answer the first part of your question. According to my doctor, you double the amount of Vitamin C you usualy take (recommended dose on bottle) when fighting a cold.

Anywhere from 1000mg to 3000mg! And something else that helps alot of AIRBORNE!! It’s only 6 bucks! Try it!

The best way to get vitamin C is to eat tomatoes, strawberries and lots of green vegetables. I guess there is no enough, though I’m not sure. Just eat healthy stuff and stay away from eating-drinking cold things.

The best thing I have found is this new juice called “Naked” you can only get it at Albertson’s or your local health store. It beats eating a ton of fruits. Every time I feel a cold coming on i rush out a drink a whole carton of it, because it is literally loaded with a pound of fruit in every bottle and is full of antioxidants. you really should try it! Hope I was help full, get well soon! ♥

Linus Pauling was obviously a great biochemist, but he wasn’t a physician. Vitamin C has been studied to death, and it is definitely NOT effective for colds. Why this myth didn’t go away fifteen or twenty years ago is a real mystery.
